The rose is one of the oldest flowers known. Fossils have been found dating back 35 million years. They are incredibly diverse with over 150 varieties. David Austin is famous for his Juliet Rose that sold for millions of dollars. You cand eat Roses. The petals are edible, you can drink Rose water, make jams and put Rose hips in your cocktails or make tea. We all know how amazing the scent of a Rose is. No wonder it’s a common ingredient in perfume. The Rose is the U.S. National flower. Ronald Reagan declared the National Rose in 1986.
