The Lotus flower has been around for over 145 million years. The seeds can survive for a thousand years. Some varieties can grow under snow or in the scorching heat. It’s that ability to survive and their determination to live and thrive that makes them so cherished. They are sacred in Buddhism and Hinduism and their image has been seen carved in stones next to pharos in Egypt. The lotus flower blooms during the day and closes up at night and goes back under the water only to rise up the next morning to bloom again. This is why this flower is associated with spirituality and enlightenment. Birth, death and rebirth.
